9:00 After a quick briefing on the beach by crew member Sarah and boarding the boat, Captain Cary tells us our plan for the day will be to snorkel at Molokini & Turtle Town.  We are free to move around the boat and fruit and muffins, coffee and juice are laid out to give us energy for this exciting day.

9:15  On our way out to Molokini the water is nice and calm and Captain Cary  throws a couple fishing lines in the water in hopes of catching a nice Mahi Mahi or Tuna for dinner.  It’s so calm we get to circumnavigate the backside of Molokini and the backside is always so beautiful to see.

9:30 Once Captain Cary has the board moored at Molokini, he does a nice briefing telling us the good places to go and we hop in.  Almost immediately we find a Yellowmargin Moray Eel hiding in the coral.  He is not to interested in us though and stays with his tail to us most of the time.

We see lots of fish like the Coronetfish, Moorish Idol, and PinkTailed Triggerfish. A shy octopus peeks out from under a coral head and some of our passengers watch as it changes colors and slides back under.

10:30 We are done snorkeling at Molokini and Captain Cary announces we are headed to Turtle Town.  Once we get on the boat he has soda and juice as well as lots of veggies and chips for snacks.  On our way to Turtle Town, Gunnar comes around and tells us about the Green Sea Turtles and the best practices for swimming with them.

11:00 Once we arrive at Turtle Town, Gunnar and Tim hop in the water with us and lead us out to find turtles. Gunnar finds one after a few short minutes and then Tim finds an octopus we all get to take photos of.   We also notice so many Sea Stars on the bottom laying in the sand.

12:00 After we have had our fill of turtles, we head back to the boat.  Captain Cary has lunch laid out and is pouring local beers and mai tais.  We have some time before we have to head back to shore so Tim hops behind the bar and Captain takes us for a nice sail along the Makena Coastline. It’s beautiful to watch the waves hitting the lava rocks and everyone is enjoying taking photos.
