Kahului

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens (which is the former Maui Zoological and Botanical Gardens) is a gathering place to view an impressive collection of native and Polynesian-introduced plants with the intent of educating the public on Maui Nui’s abundant plant life. The goal of the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is to collect and cultivate the plants that are important to Maui’s economic and cultural history while also serving as a distribution site for native plants for transplanting.

The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens were established in 1976 and included a greenhouse to propagate native Hawaiian plants from the coastal areas of Maui Mui and the dry forest. The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a lovely family-friendly destination with picnic tables, restrooms, and a playground.
