Sunrises Over Haleakala

One of the great things about the Molokini Express Snorkel trip is we get to see some spectacular sunrises over Haleakala. Witnessing the start of another beautiful Maui day and watching the colors change is always a fantastic way to start the day. Haleakala (House of the Sun) is the largest mountain on Maui with it’s highest peak reaching 10,023 feet. According to Hawaiian legend the demi-god Maui captured the sun in order the lengthen the amount of daylight in Hawaii.
The 10,023 foot journey to the summit of Haleakala is popular for many visitors during the early morning hours. While there is the option to drive up to the top of the mountain, our favorite place to watch the Haleakala Sunrise is on the bow of the Kai Kanani with coffee or hot chocolate in hand. We are often surprised with Spinner Dolphins, Flying fish, and even Humpback Whales on the short boat ride to our first snorkel location at Molokini.
