We have some exciting November updates for Kai Kanani Sailing Charters

 SUNSET SAIL TIME CHANGE

Even though we don’t have daylight savings time here in Hawaii, the sun is setting earlier which means it’s time to change the time of our Sunset Cruise.  As of Monday, November 2, 2015 the sunset time is as follows.

Check In: 3:30
Depart: 4:00
Return: 6:00
#KAICAPISCHE – FARM TO TABLE SUNSET CRUISE
Saturday, November 21st The Market Maui by Capische? will host a 5 course sampling of locally sourced Farm to Table Island delicacies expertly created by award-winning chef ChrisKulis aboard Kai Kanani’s Sunset Cruise. The Market’s wine sommelier will pair the perfect wine with each course. Spend a romantic evening at sea with live music by Brother Dwight of HawaiiOnTv.com as you sail towards the warm setting sun on the evening-blue waters of Wailea.
VOLUNTEER WITH THE TURTLES
There’s lots of exciting turtle activity happening and Hawaii Wildlife Fund needs your help! Several volunteer opportunities are available on Maui which include turtle nest watching.
“Hawaii Wildlife Fund leads constant vigils of each hawksbill nest right before and during the hatching period. Hatchlings often need a little assistance getting to the ocean as they can get trapped in sandy footprints or debris, become disoriented by coastal lighting or get entangled in vegetation. Hawaii Wildlife Fund camps by each turtle nest to wait for the hatchlings to emerge. Our presence keeps cats, dogs, birds, mongooses, and crabs from preying upon these hatchlings. When the tiny turtles crawl up out of the sand, nest watchers clear the way to make sure the hatchlings make it to the ocean safely.”
Please contact [email protected] or visit the Hawaii Wildlife Fund Website for more information.
CORAL BLEACHING
We have received many comments and questions regarding the global coral bleaching epidemic seen in the waters around Hawaii and other parts of the world.  This is caused by  water temperatures which increased this past summer. Thankfully, water temperatures are dropping and we are hoping for recovery of the stressed corals.
Kai Kanani Whale Watch

The Humpback Whales have arrived!! The first sighting was October 24th between Molokini and Kaho’olawe.  We anticipate starting whale watch tours on Sunday, December 20th.  From that day through to the end of whale season Kai Kanani whale watch tours will run daily from 1:15 – 3:15 with Hawaii Wildlife Fund certified naturalists on board to talk about the whales and answer questions.  The tour will include light snacks and drinks and we will have our hydrophone on board for the opportunity to listen to the whales live.  And back by popular demand – our Whale Watch Season Pass!
