Maui Nui Botanical Gardens (which is the former Maui Zoological and Botanical Gardens) is a gathering place to view an impressive collection of native and Polynesian-introduced plants with the intent of educating the public on Maui Nui’s abundant plant life. The goal of the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is to collect and cultivate the plants that are important to Maui’s economic and cultural history while also serving as a distribution site for native plants for transplanting.
The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens were established in 1976 and included a greenhouse to propagate native Hawaiian plants from the coastal areas of Maui Mui and the dry forest. The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a lovely family-friendly destination with picnic tables, restrooms, and a playground.
From Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, located at 150 Kanaloa Ave, Kahului, HI 96732, head south on Kanaloa Ave. Then, turn left onto W Kaahumanu Ave and take a slight left onto E Kaahumanu Ave. Make another left onto Hobron Ave. Turn right to stay on Hobron Ave, and Moana Glass will be on your right at 140 Hobron Ave Suite G, Kahului, HI 96732.
From Moana Glass, located at 140 Hobron Ave Suite G, Kahului, HI, go south toward Amala Pl and take a slight left onto Hana Hwy/HI-36. In .61 miles, turn right onto Papa Pl. The Tin Roof Maui will be on your left in 3/4 mile.
From Tin Roof Maui located at 360 Papa Pl Ste 116, Kahului, HI 96732, continue northeast on Papa Pl toward Hana Hwy/HI-36. Turn right onto Hana Hwy/HI-36. Then take the 1st right onto Dairy Rd/HI-380. Continue 1.65 miles on HI-380, then turn right onto Maui Lani Pkwy. The Dunes Golf Course will be on your right.
From Maui Lani Golf Course located at 1333 Maui Lani Pkwy, Kahului, HI 96732, turn north onto Honowai St toward Hoomoku Loop. Then turn right onto W Papa Ave. Then right onto S Puunene Ave/HI-350. after 1 mile. In .38 miles, turn left onto Hansen Rd. The Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum will be on your left.
From Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum, turn right onto Hansen Rd. In 0.1 miles, take HI-311 N. Turn right onto Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Wy and travel 0.3 miles. Turn left onto Dairy Rd. After 0.5 miles, turn left onto State Hwy 36. Turn right onto Hanakai St after 0.1 miles. Take the next right onto HI-36A. Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary is on the left at Amala Pl, Kahului, HI 96732.
From the Wildlife Sanctuary, turn right onto HI-36A. Continue as the road changes to State Hwy 36 and then E Kaahumanu Ave. This trip is a total of 1.2 miles. Kahului Beach is located on the right.
From Kahului Beach, turn right onto Kahului Beach Rd. Take the first left onto Kanaloa Ave. After 0.9 miles, turn left onto W Kaahuman Ave. Take the 2nd right onto S Wakea Ave. In 0.5 miles, take Hina Ave on the right. Turn right onto Lono Ave, and Maui High School Band will be on the right at 660 Lono Ave, Kahului, HI 96732.
From Maui High School Band, cross Lono Ave onto S Oahu St. In 0.3 miles, turn right onto Hina Ave. Take the 3rd left onto W Papa Ave. After 0.3 miles, turn right onto HI-311 S. Continue as the road changes to Piilani Hwy and again to Wailea Ike Dr. About 300 feet after the name changes to Wailea Ike Dr, turn right onto Wailea Gateway Pl.
